A: No. Eating disorders affect people of all body sizes, shapes, and weights. Eating disorders are not limited to anorexia nervosa – people can be affected by bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder (BED), Avoidant or Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), or other specified feeding or eating disorder (OSFED).
A: You don’t need a diagnosis to ask for help. If food, body image, or control around eating is affecting your mental health, reaching out is valid.
A: Recovery isn’t linear. Having hard days doesn’t mean failure — it means you’re human. With the right support and recovery process, you can love yourself and heal.
A: You can offer support, listen without judgment, and encourage them to talk to a counselor or trusted adult. Try not to mention triggering words, like "weight," "calories," or "fat/skinny." Remember that eating disorders look different for everybody.
